Dr. Belkis Torres-Capeles, Ph.D.

Dr. Torres-Capeles is a higher education and business executive with over 20 years’ experience leading outreach efforts for an expanded movement towards workforce readiness through Continuing Education, Executive Education, K-16 collaborations, Extended Sites, Career Technical Education (CTE), and Lifelong Learning.

She is driven by her passion for bridging social gaps, empowering future leaders, and equipping professionals from all walks of life with the tools they need to pursue more meaningful career and life paths. Dr. Torres-Capeles has also worked as a senior-level strategist in the corporate sector serving national and international organizations and learners. She’s a dedicated advocate for persons on the margin and providing pathways for disenfranchised women and girls. 

Dr. Torres-Capeles enjoys mentoring young adults and supporting single parents through educational pursuits. In her private time, she enjoys international films, reading, camping and spending time with family. 

She earned her Ph.D. in Cultural Foundations of Education, Leadership, & Administration and her master’s in liberal studies, Counseling, & Conflict Management at Kent State University in Ohio. She also earned a Certificate in Community College Leadership from the same institution. She’s a member of various organizations including: University Professional & Continuing Education Association (UPCEA), National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP), Learning Resources Network (LERN), and Comparative & International Education Society (CIES).
