Dr. Michael Washington
Dr. Michael Washington is a community pharmacist with 28 years of experience serving the South Side of Chicago, where he was raised. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Xavier University of Louisiana in 1995 and is a former U.S. Army medic. Known for his clear and compassionate communication style, he helps patients understand their medications in simple, practical terms so they feel confident managing their health.
In recent years, caregiving has become deeply personal. In 2023, his mother-in-law was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Washington supports her care by organizing medications and checking in daily to ensure her safety.
In July 2024, his own mother suffered a stroke and was later diagnosed with vascular dementia. After her hospitalization and rehabilitation at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, Dr. Washington moved in as her full-time caregiver. She now requires daily assistance with mobility and personal care.
Balancing professional expertise with lived experience, Dr. Washington brings empathy, patience, and dignity to every role he serves. His dedication was recently recognized with a Certificate of Recognition from Dementia Dignified Academy and Ending Dis-Ease Consulting LLC.
